What could possibly top being caught on 99, at the MCG, Boxing Day Test, when it would have been the fourth time you got two centuries in one Test, and third against South Africa, while also trying to redeem your country from EPIC FAILURE, trying to save your country's number one ranking and your captaincy?
Being caught by Graeme Smith.
Smith took that firmly struck shot and erupted in celebration.
Erupted in celebration, huh.
Wonder if that involved a girly squeal.

It was an excellent innings under pressure. He is quickly closing in on Sachin's 42 test hundreds. Pity that it had to end that way.
What explains your special liking to Greame Smith?
It was very disa-Ponting. Bahaha. And now the sun has addled his brain and he's given the new ball to Lee and Siddle to score 9 an over from. Yay.
I wish I knew, 12th Man. I wish I knew.
Ponting returns to form but his team is gonna lose the first place....
That squeal is still living in my brain. I can't shake it. And now he's erupted. What will happen a) if they win and b) Smith and Duminy are at the crease when they do.
i'm really happy to see ponting get back in form
I love watching Ponting bat and today was him at his best - pretty shots and quick singles. He'll overtake Sachin's record of 42 within the next 6 months or so and fully deserves to do so.
I do love an epic Aussie fail. Mmmm, how it makes my day. Not that I'm not a proud Aussie, mind you. I am. It's just that I'm so _bored_ with the overwhelming arrogance of the Aussies for the last decade. They've had this whippin' comin' and I, for one, can't wait to watch Punter--who, sure, has found some ripping form now that it makes ABSOLUTELY NO difference--and his metro lads bite the big one.
Come on, Tuesday. I can't wait!
What a wonderful day of cricket!
It's nice to see any team in the driving seat for a change (the Arse-tralians have had it good for too long).
I really admire the way the South African team play. They don't need to resort to the low tactics the Aussies use - trying to intimidate the opponent with maliscious sledging. The South Africans do it with integrity and pure talent!
Smithy is a great Captain who leads from the front.
Well Old Batsman, it's probably lucky Smith got out, because I think there may have been snogging. Though at this rate I doubt Duminy will get another bat anyway.
Srinivasarao, better than two Ponting ducks AND losing first place.
SLD and DreamDancer, I hear ya.
Antipatriot, I've always defended Australia on the arrogant thing. Arrogance only works when you're winning, and the last week or so they really have seemed quite arrogant, especially with their selections and Ponting blaming everyone bar himself for losing Perth. I don't want them to lose though.
SA supporter... welcome... (is that you Graeme??) sure South Africa have played very well and deserve to win this... not sure they're the angels you think they are though.
they are about to win now, i am eagerly awaiting the squeal
I bet they won't show us the squeal.
I heard the squeal.
