During the most recent Winter Olympics, F-grade sportsman Steven Bradbury said some really stupid things.
He remarked that people who weren't serious medal contenders shouldn't be involved in the Olympics, as they were doing the event a disservice, wasting people's time and there was no place for them.
I can't remember who he was referring to specifically, but think along the lines of Eric the Eel. We loved Eric the Eel in this country. He definitely had a place in the Sydney Olympics.
So Steven Bradbury is a tosser. Agree?
Interesting fact, however, is that despite him now apparently being a font of wisdom on who belongs at the Olympics, he is famous for winning gold in the 1000m speed skating final in Salt Lake City by default; because everyone else fell over.
The only reason he didn't fall too is because he was so far behind.

It should be pointed out that this man was awarded an Order of Australia medal for this 'achievement'.
I'm drawing a parallel here with someone else who's widely accepted as being a tosser, bad sport, un-Australian.
Why?
Because last night he was awarded the highest cricket award in this country by default, because everyone else was crap.
Yes he may have deserved it. But you can still be outstanding and not win by 100 votes.

Winning by default is still winning! Well, in Watto's eyes I'm sure.
HARSH, Miss Field! Shane Watson may be on a terrible, almost unforgiveably bad Fox Sports ad. He may have married a gorgeous Fox Sports presenter (but not the gorgeous one who knows about soccer, so he stuffed up there). And he may be super beefy and have blonde highlights. But is he so hateable? Still?
What would he have to do to win you over? Because I'm thinking that whatever you come up with, he's already done it, and you're just unwilling to recognise it. Be consistently our best batsman? Check. Struggle along the way to show he knows how to overcome adversity? Check. Win us a trophy? Check (Champions Trophy with centuries in the semi and final).
What more can Shane Watson do??
Ok ok. Maybe "the Steven Bradbury of cricket" is a little unfair.
The point is though, that everyone else is seriously below par.
It would have been his award anyway, but the rest of them have fallen over like Bradbury's opponents in the ice skating final.
100 votes is a long way behind.
So Watson got this award for scoring a whole lot of 60s and 70s in tests over the summer?

Well Bradbury got an OAM for ice skating. Cricket? Australian of the Year.

hey, I dunno about the Steve guy u spoke about, but mdefinitely pro-Watto now. And I was not in the year 2008. But this guy has turned it around by perseverance and amid injuries and ghost scares..:)..Hemay not be the most gifted and adroit chap agreed, but he still is one of the better allrounders going around today...and he would'nt say such a stupid thing as u mentioned for sure...so plz give'im a break..
